What we do?

Kristen Stewart is a 20 year retail veteran who began her entrepreneurial journey with a shop in the South End neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina. Needing more joy in 2021, she created Urban Sweets as a ice cream push cart concept. In 2022, she opened an Urban Sweets dessert shop in the South End neighborhood while expanding her push cart business to travel up to four hours. After a business evaluation in 2023, the retail shop was closed, but only after increasing cart service capabilities and adding large scale vending and business collaborations.

A Greensboro, North Carolina native and proud graduate of North Carolina A&T State University, Kristen spent 13 years working for a Fortune 100 company in sales and marketing before embarking on her retail journey. Kristen has lived in Charlotte over 20 years and when not working, loves traveling, attending sporting events, the performing arts, trivia, visiting museums and of course, eating ice cream.

A believer in the power of community and the impact of philanthropy, Kristen volunteers at several local schools and loves working with scouts and community organizations. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and is a frequent donor to Big Brothers Big Sisters, Dress for Success and Good Friends Charlotte.

With a new passion of panel speaking, Kristen has spoken to the Junior League of Charlotte, Do Greater Charlotte and private companies on the benefits, joys and challenges of entrepreneurship.

A lover of learning, Kristen takes annual classes with a variety of organizations including the Women’s Business Center, Aspire Community Capital, Small Business Centers and more.

With over 100 events per year, NCHUB SBE and MWBE certified Urban Sweets continues to create new experiences for guests and why 94% of customers return. One of the biggest success stories is working with Lending Tree who Urban Sweets visits monthly.

Believing in the necessity of successful small businesses, Kristen is also the owner of KD Crafted, a business strategy company that is focused on efficiency and growth. She has assisted clients with expanding their businesses, creating efficiencies that have saved thousands of dollars in costs and implementing growth strategies that translated to double digit percentage revenue increases.
